About Zap the Show
Zap the Show (Zap) was envisioned and created in Mountain View, California in 2007 by Steve Leighton, long time Bay Area resident, singer, song writer, guitar, flute, harmonica, keyboards. The band was modeled after The Allan Parsons project where the door is always open for other players to augment the music as it is needed.
ZAP is an acronym for Zenith Ark Project. Zenith is "the highest point, in the night sky, the top of a mountain, etc. Ark represents a container as in The Ark of the Covenant, the consecrated container for the tablets of the Ten Commandments, or Noah's Ark or The interstellar ark, a conceptual multi-lifetime space vehicle.
The band was developed as a performing event featuring an an ever changing cast of special guest including national and international talent in 2011. ZAP has had the pleasure of working with and continues to work with such greats as:
ZAP is currently recording a CD with all original material written by Steve Leighton and featuring many nationally known players. It is scheduled to be released in 2016 and will be available for sale on this site.
ZAP the Show features surprise guest appearances at almost every show. The only way you will find out who they are is to show up and be entertained. And bring a friend!

- Little John Chrisley (He played with: Huey Lewis, Bo Diddley, and John Lee Hooker.)
- Kid Anderson (He played with: Charlie Musslewhite and Elvin Bishop. He also won the 2014 National Blues Award.)
- Kenny Neal (He is a member of Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.)
- Terry Hiatt (He played with: Lara Price, Kay Bohler, and E. C. Scott. He placed third in The International Blues Competition in 2012.)
- Garth Weber (He played with: Miles Davis, Greg Allman, Robben Ford, Cold Blood, and too many more to list.)
- Dave Gonzales (He is believed by many to be one of the very best guitarists in California.)
- Nate Ginsberg (He played with Herbie Hancock.)
